Materials and Resources

There is a wealth of free materials which can be used in teaching English Online. Many of these were designed to be used in the live classroom but they are also very suitable for online learning and teaching. It can, however, be very daunting looking through all the many, many websites offering teaching materials.

One of the best starting points is to explore publishers’ web sites. They often have materials which complement their course books and you can adapt them very easily for online use. A great many worksheets are in PDF and you will need to know how to copy this type of text.

This will only work with PDF files which are not write protected. To find the properties of a pdf document:

  • Open the document
  • Click on File
  • Open document properties
  • Click on Security tab

This will tell you what you are allowed to do with the PDF document as below

If it is protected, you cannot manipulate it but you can still share it with your students.
