 Checking and testing learning effectiveness

Many students will want to book a course of lessons and this is a good sales strategy as you will be able to make a rough estimate of when students will be requiring lessons and so enable you to manage your teaching time more effectively.

It can be a motivating for students if they know that there will be some kind of evaluation of their learning at the end of a set period.

You will need to keep a record of what they have been learning and decide whether you will have ongoing assessments and/or an end of period test.

Types of test

Important: make sure that the tests you create actually test what you need them to test. Making tests is relatively easy - it is a lot more difficult to devise the contents of tests than you may think.

Here are a few examples of types of tests used:

Cloze tests

You can send by attachments to emails and students can simply email back the answers. This is useful for homework assignments in particular but is slow in real time teaching.

Chat room.

Tests can be undertaken in Chat room mode but again is slow and unwieldy.
